The Privacy Policy of
The Foundation for Diabetes Education

Our website, thefde.com, is much more about providing information than asking for information.  Nevertheless, we recognize that the information that we do gather is given with trust that it is to remain confidential.  Therefore,

1. with regard to personal information

a. Any question directed to our staff by an inquiring visitor on the subject of personal health, and any conversation that ensues will be held in the strictest of confidence.

b. Any inquiries made to us for information about established or coming diabetes-related products and services - this includes any requests for medication, meters, insurance, or such – shall be answered by an individual directly affiliated with our Foundation who can provide relevant material and/or a source from which the inquiring visitor can, if they wish, request additional information.  A sales or company representative will never be given the contact information of a visitor who makes an inquiry about these items.

c. All personal data given to us by any visitor for the purpose of their being considered for low or no-cost supplies shall not be divulged to any party that does not work directly for our Foundation.  Any reply with regard to their eligibility for such supplies shall, likewise, come only from an individual that directly works for our Foundation.

2. with regard to financial information:

a. Any information given to the Foundation and/or its personnel for the purpose of determining eligibility for supplies or insurance or other programs for which financial qualifications are relevant, will not be passed to any party that does not directly work for the Foundation itself.

b. Any information given in order to facilitate a donation such as checking account or credit card numbers shall only be passed to the financial institution that is to process that transaction, and only in strict accordance with the encryption and https security protocol that they require to ensure it confidential passage.

c. Any individual, business or other entity that provides the Foundation with a financial gift may choose to have their name posted on our public List of Benefactors.  (Otherwise, it will not be posted publicly.)  Whether a donation is for $1 or $9,999 dollars, no mention of the amount will be posted; only those donations of $10,000 or above will be noted and, then, only if the Donor requests that the amount of the donation be made public.

d. In addition, should that donation for our benefit be in connection with a specific fundraising event, such as (currently) the First-Ever World-Wide On-Line Charity Golf Tournament for Diabetes, we will notify the event holder (in this case, Health-Tech Marketing) of the Donor’s name but not their contact data nor their financial information.  We shall not divulge the actual amount of their donation, only if and what they have qualified for if there is a set level of service or specific incentive based on exceeding a certain minimum donation.

3. with regard to statistical information:

We do gather non-personal statistical information automatically via the use of ‘cookies’.  These are small text files that enable the recognition of repeat visitors, facilitate the visitor’s on-going access to and use of the site, and allow that usage to be tracked in order that statistics can be compiled.  We use these statistics in our constant effort to make the site easier to use and to ensure that information or particular areas of interest to the majority of visitors are most accessible.

Though ‘cookies’ do not go onto the visitor’s system – and, therefore, will not damage either their system or files – we understand that a visitor may not want to participate in our generation of statistics.  If that is the case, the visitor can find a simple procedure on their browser to enable them to ‘deny’ the cookie feature.

We would appreciate it, though, if they did participate as the more complete a picture we can get of how visitors use our site (again, not who the visitors are), the better an experience we can make it for others as well as for them.

Any inquiries about this Privacy Policy or the general operating policies of the Foundation of Diabetes Education website may be directed to the address below.  We look forward to answering all questions.
