Who
We Are
Years
ago, when most experts were saying only adults need be concerned about
Type 2 Diabetes, the Foundation for Diabetes Education was educating and providing blood
tests for thousands of children. (Actually, more than 5,000 children
in less than two years! And all for free!!)
Now the
facts are well-known – The disease IS deeply rooted in our young
population. In fact, it is its most prevalent disease and the fastest
growing one of them all! Hence, schools, parents, and even legislators
have all ramped up national campaigns against its adverse effects.
But the
FDE was not started just to bring attention to a single issue of
diabetes healthcare. That is why we continue to monitor research,
take note of promising discoveries and, via this website, enable all
who have an interest to link to some of the best informational
resources. We are, once again, out to change individual thinking and
public policy.
Our
current project spotlights the plight of the millions of Americans
(including children!) who
have Diabetes, but who do not have insurance.
It's the un-insured that, most often,
can not
overcome the $13,000 per year hurdle, on average, that every diabetes
patient
faces just to keep this disease at bay per the standard medical
protocol.
Certainly, a cure for diabetes is their best hope. And more than one
billion dollars has been raised thus far in search of it. Yet, by all
accounts, at least another generation will pass before it
is at-hand.
The FDE could be one more of the notable charities that
are raising funds for a cure. But, it is not.
Rather, we have, once more, taken a leadership position in an area
where the need is also abundant, but where the support is, instead,
scarce.
As
always, our mission is not simply to bring valuable information into
public view. Once again we have designed and implemented an
innovative, cost-effective project as a model of how to put that
information to its best use:
The
FDE will arrange
for uninsured and economically-challenged individuals to receive
a free supply of diabetes medications that
their doctor prescribes - including insulin.
The FDE will also provide, for FREE, non-prescription supplies
(even the constantly-required testing strips) direct from the facility it has created -
the FDE Free Diabetes Supplies Warehouse®
-
to all California residents.
ALL FREE, for all those
in need.

This is
an actual and significant step toward solving the problem. In
fact, it is this solution-oriented stance that has always brought us
accolades and is an
important reason that
The First-Ever

has chosen to support the FDE from among hundreds of other good and
reputable charities.
